When Public Leaders Put Their EGOS Ahead Of Service?

Expert Author Richard Brody
When any individual, serves as a public official, citizens are often harmed, when they put their personal/ political agenda, self - interest, and EGOS, ahead of the common good! Shouldn't elected leaders emphasize quality service, and representation? Although, our Constitution states, of the people, and for the people, it is far too rare, when those, we elect, someone, who takes those words, as seriously, as they should! Especially, these days, when many feel, many of the rights, liberties, freedoms, and the concept of, justice for all, is under attack, voters must overcome their apathy, pay keen attention, and seriously consider, the potential ramifications of failing to adequately protect, those things, which have made, America great! With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why, it matters.
1. Empathy; emphasis; ego; endangers: Whether one supports, agrees, opposes, or disagrees, overall, with the leadership, rhetoric, and actions of President Donald Trump, all should agree, and recognize, he, often, makes every issue, about him, and how, it impacts him, instead of seeking a meeting - of - the - minds, for the common good! In order to do, what is needed, and necessary, we need a leader, with genuine empathy, and, who, places his emphasis on service and representation, instead of populist rhetoric, vitriol, and polarization! Feeding one's ego, often, endangers this nation, from the perspective of relevance, sustainability, and protecting the country, today, and clean air and water, and the environment, for the generations, which follow!
2. Generate goodwill: Empty rhetoric and promises, vitriol, name - calling, blaming, and complaining, does not generate goodwill, or any meeting - of - the - minds, even if it makes the politician, feel better, feed his ego, and help him, from a political perspective! Don't we need, and deserve, better?
3. Options; opportunities; organized, others: When service and representation, to others, is hindered, and/ or, obstructed, the nation suffers! Ideally, someone would recognize, and consider various options, and alternatives, seeking the finest opportunities, instead of emphasizing populism, and/ or, a path, of least resistance! It takes more than, mere words, to achieve the finest objectives, but, rather, a concerted effort, and quality preparation, so to be able to lead, in the most organized way!
4. Service; solutions; sustainable; strengths/ stronger: Only, when/ if, meaningful service, and a search for solutions, is the highest priority, will one offer sustainable leadership. Instead of one, letting, his ego, get the best, of him, quality leaders proceed, in an introspective, objective way, to know his strengths, as well as weaknesses. Using strengths, effectively, and addressing areas of weakness, makes one stronger, where denial, and/ or, putting - himself - first, is not in our best interests!
We all suffer, when public leaders, put their EGOS, personal/ political agenda, and/ or, self - interest, ahead of the best interests of constituents. Wake up, America, and demand, more, from those, you elect. to serve and represent your needs, goals, and priorities!
